Accountability

These training materials for a face-to-face or virtual bite-size workshop on accountability is all about helping managers to encourage the people they lead to take ownership of their work. It isn’t about blame, disciplinary action or “ruling with a rod of iron”. It’s about the everyday things managers do that make accountability more, or less, likely.

Most managers want a team that spots problems early, finds solutions and follows things through without being chased. But accountability can’t be handed out or demanded. People have to choose to take it. Luckily, managers can create conditions to make that choice more likely.

In particular, by the end of the Power Hour delegates will be able to:

  • Use the Accountability Ladder to recognise 'below-the-line' and 'above-the-line' behaviour in themselves and their team.
  • Use questions to help a team member move one rung up the ladder, instead of rescuing them or taking the problem back.
  • Identify one or two of their own management habits that discourage accountability, and change them.

To get a flavour of the core session, you can download our free Key Points Sheet and view the optional Power Point Slides in PDF format on the next page. Click 'Buy Now' and BEFORE you purchase, you can look at those free of charge. Remember... Much more detail is included in the training session plan and detailed delegate workbook which you get when you purchase.
