What are Power Hour Materials?
Power Hour is a library of professionally designed workplace bite-size training workshops covering topics including leadership, management, communication, customer service, developing others and personal effectiveness.
Each workshop provides everything you need to deliver an engaging learning session, whether you're delivering to a small team, running internal development programmes or supporting clients as an external trainer.
Unlike many downloadable training materials, these workshops aren't simply collections of slides or pages of information. They're structured learning experiences, designed to encourage discussion, participation and practical application.
Every workshop has been created using the same learning design principles I use when designing bespoke programmes for organisations across the UK.
Why I designed them
I spent years designing bespoke training for large organisations including including Kelloggs, Warburtons, Costain, Johnsons Workwear, The Ardonogh group (Towergate Insurance), Aldermore Bank. Monsoon Accessorize and Keolis Amey Metrolink. I saw similar topics being covered and realised smaller organisations, charities and busy freelance trainers needed the same quality, but without the high cost or investing a lot of their own time in design.
In recent years, the rise in elearning has also demonstrated a real need to supplement these knowledge-based solutions with something more interactive and practical. Behaviour only changes when new skills are applied. Bite-size live training workshops are perfect for exploring topics and practicing new skills without taking huge chunks out of peoples' day.

Why not just use AI?
It's a good question, and when budgets and resources are squeezed, L&D are encouraged to optimise both.
AI is an excellent tool for generating ideas and speeding up parts of the design process. But creating effective workplace learning still relies on learning design expertise. Knowing what to include, what to leave out, how to sequence activities, working out realistic timings, knowing where to encourage discussion (and what responses to look for), explaining how to run (and debrief) activities, and how to build confidence and application are all decisions that come from experience.
